Chisholm Trail Festival in Yukon OK - an incredible experience....
This morning I took off and headed to Chisholm Trail Festival in Yukon OK. It was hot already. At 10AM and the temperature was in the 90's. The festival was located at the old Kilpatrick property on the corner of Vandament and Garth Brooks Blvd. Once I got there from the parking lot it was quite pleasant. Lots of trees gave people a needed relief from the relentless warmth of the sun. 
There was so much to see - lots of history, re-enactments, live exhibits, rides, shootouts, plays, petting zoos, souvenirs and delicious Cajun-style FOOD! It was a treat to talk to soldiers of 77th Penn Infantry, watching biscuits baking in the 
Dutch oven over the fire, talking with Oklahoma Territory teacher in her little school house, blacksmith working on the red-hot iron horseshoe, saddle maker shaping the frame and much much more. Everyone was enjoying the event. 
I had a privilege to talk to Mr. JW Parker, our renowned Chisholm Trail historian and authority and learn few new facts about the Chisholm Trail. He and his wife Mary Jo had a beautiful exhibit inside one of the prairie houses showing the history, pictures and some artifacts.
It was an incredible experience. Great day learning, visiting 'old' friends and making new ones...I even got talked to try shooting John Wayne style...LOL
